We could really use everyone’s prayers and good energy for Captain (ret) Quentin Aukeman. Quentin retired from NNSS F&R several years ago due to pulmonary problems related to firefighting and his service at the NNSS. He has bravely fought this disease process for many years. He was admitted to Summerlin Hospital today and may be flown to Salt Lake City tomorrow for a double lung transplant. Please keep him, his wife Teresa and his family in your prayers. You’ve got this Q-Man! ... See MoreSee Less

Brothers & Sisters, I’m sending this message with an important update that directly impacts the benefits and protections our members have relied on for more than three decades. On November 13th, the Nevada Supreme Court issued its opinion in Holguin v. City of Henderson, striking down long-standing lung disease protections for Nevada’s first responders. The Court ruled that: The conclusive presumption under NRS 617.455(5) no longer stands alone. Members must now prove exposure to heat, smoke, fumes, tear gas, or noxious gases. Communicable diseases, including COVID-19, are excluded outright. This decision removes 35+ years of established protection and places all pending and future lung claims at serious risk. Thankfully, we acted quickly. Working directly with state legislators during the current Special Session, we secured passage of Senate Bill 7 — with strong bipartisan support in both the Senate and Assembly. But now the bill sits on Governor Lombardo’s desk, awaiting signature. This is our final step. We need every Local 1285 member to take one minute and tell the Governor you support SB 7 becoming law. 👉 Click here to submit your message to Governor Lombardo: https://www.votervoice.net/IAFF/Campaigns/131678/Respond Your voice genuinely matters here. When we speak collectively, we win battles like this. Fire PAC made it possible for us to secure legislative support — now we need to finish the job. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Stay safe and stay united. Fraternally, Beau McDougall PFFN DVP — IAFF Local 1285 702-595-1949
